Schedule: Hours are flexible, starting between 7-9AM, working
until 3:30-5:30 PM Job Description: A recent college grad with a
chemistry degree would be a likely candidate, so 0-3 years
experience seems right. They don't need to have industry
experience, but if they did, that would be great. Our hope is to be
able to hire one or possibly both of these people to permanent
positions, and we'd like to have that decided by year end. Job
Description: As a part of the Industrial Coatings Group, the Coil
Coatings business is looking for a highly motivated individual for
a Contract Development Chemist position. Located in Springdale, PA
(Pittsburgh, PA suburb), the position will functionally report to
the Technical Team Leader for Coil Coatings. The selected candidate
will work closely other chemists and technicians on the team in
support of key customer projects and the operations team in the
plant. Prior knowledge of coatings chemistry or formulation and
coatings application is desired. Coil-applied coatings knowledge is
preferred. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work
collaboratively with other technical team members is also desired.
The ability to adapt to changing priorities is important. This
technical position will draw upon job-specific training, past
technical experience; product databases and consultation with other
individuals which may include polymer (synthesis) chemists,
physical & analytical chemists, and manufacturing personnel. Major
Accountabilities will include, but may not be limited to the
following areas: Manufacturing Support Manufacturing Process:
Assisting with lab work in support of trouble shooting production
issues Formula Filing: Filing and updating of formulas in the
Oracle ERP system under the direction of senior team members
Technical/ Customer Support Conducting lab experiments to resolve
customer questions/concerns Evaluating test pieces from line
application trials Providing both applied and wet samples to
customers, both internal and external Preparation and submission of
samples for long-term weathering testing Product Development
Replacement of obsoleted raw material in existing products Formula
modifications for cost optimization Formula modification based on
application changes Qualifications: Candidate should have a BS
Degree in a technical/engineering field such as Chemistry, Polymer
Science, or Chemical Engineering Laboratory experience (Industrial
