Job Description:
PURPOSE OF POSITION To perform distribution of equipment and
procedural supplies to all nursing units with patient care
responsibilities. This includes delivery, pick up, decontamination,
checking and filling of specialty carts, management of supplies and
portable equipment and returning devices to service. To complete
instrument tracking on all devices and process all requisitions for
patient care. Complete inventory management of these supplies.
Serve as an expert to Nursing Units for patient care supplies and
equipment. RESPONSIBILITIES # EXPECTATIONS Understands and follows
all procedures for decontamination of equipment, specialty carts
and supplies. Handles/disposes of infectious waste according to
proper procedure. Follow manufacturer#s instructions for
disinfecting and checking equipment. Must be knowledgeable of
preparation area guidelines and standards and implements those
practices. JOB REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or GED. WORKING
CONDITIONS: Sterile Processing has 24/7 coverage.# Shifts are
variable to volume of department. Rotation as needed. Work weekends
and holidays as assigned. Every other weekend and two holidays a
year, in a group rotation Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated
with other staff members to maintain adequate floor coverage. Blood
and body fluid exposure. Extensive walking or standing for long
periods of time. Heavy lifting pulling and pushing required. Must
have basic computer skills. Staff may be assigned to different
locations within the Aultman Health Foundation. # PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM Be high school graduate or equivalent. Have
ability to communicate effectively. Work effectively with fellow
coworkers. Be in good physical and mental health. Must be able to
lift up to 70 pounds. Must be able to push/pull a cart weighing up
to 300 pounds. Must be able to stand in one place for up to 3 hours
at a time. Must be able to walk up to 5 miles in eight hours
period. Must possess good manual dexterity. Must possess good
personal hygiene. Must maintain good attendance according to
policy. Must be reliable and accountable. Must have basic computer
skills. Must continue education in the field of Sterile Processing.
Must have critical thinking skills and prioritization of workflow.
Must be detail-oriented to products and quality. # All qualified
