It will manage analysts, engineers, and specialists that deliver results to Timken in the technical areas of bearing finishing, manufacturing automation, and controls. The position will ensure that the appropriate core competencies are maintained and developed to provide the necessary support to the business in maintenance of current products, development of new products as well as staying abreast of new technologies that could impact the business or present future opportunities.In this position you will:

• Supervising and managing members of the Manufacturing R&D group (with expertise in bearing finishing, automation, and controls) ensuring that the tactics undertaken by this group are in alignment with the published manufacturing strategy and supported by the business units and/or technology leadership.
• Driving project rigor, adherence to project plans, creation of appropriate metrics and other tools to characterize the overall ROI for this group.
• Functioning as the primary contact for the business groups for bearing finishing, automation, and controls technologies.
• Managing and leading development efforts for advanced and innovative finishing processes and related manufacturing technologies for existing and future bearing materials.
• Leading efforts to develop a fundamental understanding of the relationship between bearing finishing technology specifics and product performance. Develop low cost, high speed finishing process to keep Timken competitive across its wide range of bearing sizes.
• Providing automation, vision systems, and controls R&D project deliverables and support for existing and new products and manufacturing facilities.
• Develop, launch, and support new vision system and other manufacturing automation solutions to Timken manufacturing facilities.
• Maintaining awareness of external technology developments and justifying their investigation as appropriate.Technical and Functional Skills:
  • Strong training in Mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or controls engineering.
  • Experience or demonstrated aptitude in leadership, either in formal management role, related societies, associate resource groups, etc.
  • Significant accomplishment in advanced technical projects.
  • Ability to influence internal and external customers
  • Expertise in bearing finishing process, manufacturing automation, and/or controls engineering.
    Minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline with 7-10 years of experience in research and developing, engineering, operations, or related.
    • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA preferred.
