ABOUT US Allegheny County Department of Human Services (ACDHS)
is the largest agency with a $1 billion budget, supporting over
200,000 residents annually through community partnerships. The
ACDHS Internship Program offers students practical experience in
public service, involving meaningful projects that enhance social
services. ACDHS seeks undergraduate and graduate students to apply

June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026 Schedule: 20–29 hours per week Work
Type: In-person (Pittsburgh-based roles) Eligibility Enrolled in an
accredited U.S. college or university (undergraduate or graduate)
Available to work at least 20 hours per week Able to work in person
at an assigned ACDHS office Must have an Allegheny County address
during the internship International candidates must meet federal
I-9 employment eligibility requirements. Data Analytics Internships
Overview The Data Analytics internships at ACDHS offers students
the opportunity to apply their technical skills to real-world
challenges that impact individuals, families, and communities
across Allegheny County. As a Data Analytics Intern, you will work
on projects that help ACDHS improve services, make informed
decisions, and better understand community needs. You will gain
hands-on experience using data to support programs in areas such as
child welfare, behavioral health, aging services, and community
supports. Focus Areas Child Welfare Analytics Criminal Justice
Analytics Client Experience Analytics What You’ll Do During your
internship, you may: Analyze real ACDHS datasets to identify
trends, gaps, and opportunities Support dashboards, reports, and
data visualizations for leadership Clean, organize, and validate
data from multiple sources Translate data findings into clear,
actionable insights Collaborate with program, technology, and
analytics teams Contribute to projects that improve service
delivery and outcomes Develop scalable methods to link DHS provider
data with public data sources using APIs Preferred Skills
Proficiency in SQL and at least one analytical tool (Python, R, or
advanced Excel) for data analysis and transformation Experience
cleaning, validating, and working with large, complex datasets
Ability to design dashboards or data visualizations (e.g., Power
BI, Tableau) that support decision-making Experience working with
APIs to extract and integrate data (e.g., REST APIs, JSON) Strong
analytical and statistical reasoning skills, with the ability to
interpret results accurately Ability to translate data into clear,
actionable insights for non-technical audiences Strong
communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage
