Resonance Research Center (MRRC) is seeking an MRI Research
Technologist – Advanced to support imaging studies conducted within
a University of Pittsburgh research environment. This role offers a
4x10 weekday schedule with only every 5th Saturday from 7:30
a.m.–12:30 p.m. Following the Pitt academic calendar, the position
features no holidays, no nights, no call, very limited Saturday
work, and no Sundays. The technologist will support research
scanning, ensure safety and image quality, and collaborate with
investigators in a specialized academic research setting. Purpose:
Perform MR procedures at a technical level not requiring constant
supervision under general direction of the supervisor. Perform a
variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment,
ingenuity and initiative in the operation of MR equipment necessary
for securing imaging of various portions of the body for use in the
diagnosis of disease or injury. Responsibilities: - DECISION MAKING

- QUALITY AND PROCESS IMPROVEMENT. Participate in the Patient
Safety Program and the quality improvement program of the
department and hospital activities. Look continually for

improvement. Patient safety is addressed through marking sides on
films, marking side site, and proper identification of patients.

members of the healthcare team. - PERFORM MR EXAMS. Film MR exams
as described in the protocol guidelines. Adjust to fluctuations in
workload. Maintain working knowledge of all scan equipment e.g.
coils, upgrade, etc. Perform non-technical duties as required.
Perform image post processing, networking and archiving as needed.
Perform patient assessments as needed. Perform venipuncture and
administer MR contrast as ordered by the radiologists. Maintain
working knowledge of scanning equipment and perform minor
calibrations on the equipment and/or report the need for major
services or repairs to proper personnel. Operate and maintain
monitoring equipment. - PATIENT INTERACTION AND RECORDKEEPING.
Receive patients and verify identification and written orders for
requested and approved procedures. Explain procedures and answer
patients' questions and concerns before performing the procedure.
Position patients, choose appropriate factors and follow
established protocols required to produce high quality MR scans.
Complete requisition and charge vouchers according to department
procedures. - COMMUNICATION. Establish and maintain an atmosphere
of caring and support for patients, visitors, medical staff and
co-workers. Manage difficult or emotional customer situations and
respond promptly to customer needs. Communicate effectively and
concisely with all members of the healthcare team, verbally and in
writing. Exhibit good listening skills. - The MR Research
Technologist, Advanced must have satisfactorily completed formal
training in a radiology related program, i.e. Radiology or Nuclear
Medicine with accreditation by the ARRT or NMTCB. - A minimum of 2
years of MR experience is required. Licensure, Certifications, and
Clearances: ARRT Certificate with MR Registry required. - ARRT
