The Opportunity: West Liberty University is seeking applications for an Instructional Specialist in the department of Dental Hygiene. The Instructional Specialist is to provide instruction to dental hygiene students through demonstration and exercises in pre-clinical and clinical courses, dental radiology, and/or dental materials lab sessions. the instructional specialist will also assist with day-to-day operations of the dental hygiene clinic and departments.This is a Temporary/As Needed Position Essential Functions of the position: Individualizing laboratory and clinical instruction for each student/patient during the clinic, radiology and dental materials. Monitoring, Supervising, and evaluating student clinical activities including: Approving patient medical histories and contracting patient's physician as needed to proceed with treatment Assigning appropriate patient treatment Monitoring appropriate infection control protocols Evaluating and grading patient radiographs and intra-oral photos Managing any medical emergencies that may arise during patient care Maintaining clinical and laboratory supply interventions Maintaining clinical and laboratory equipment Developing and updating clinic templates, record systems, student evaluations, clinic forms and documents Tracking clinical rotation assignment of instructors Managing quality assurance documents SADHA Advisor (Student American Dental Hygienists Association) CPR Instructor Certification Completing CE requirements necessary for licensure in the state of WV Education & Experience Requirements: Registered Dental Hygienist with bachelor's degree in dental Hygiene Licensed to practice as a registered Dental Hygienist in the state of West Virginia Certified to administer local anesthesia and monitor nitrous oxide in West Virginia Certified to provide soft tissue laser therapy in West Virginia West Virginia General Supervision Permit West Virginia Public Health Practice Permit Current CE requirements necessary for dental hygiene licensure in West Virginia Member of the American Dental Hygiene Association Minimum 3 years clinical experience Skills/Abilities: Good oral/written communication Must be familiar with the Dental Hygiene Practice Act in the state of West Virginia Proficient in dental software and digital radiology Proficient in periodontal assessment and debridement Previous teaching experience and knowledge of dental hygiene accreditation standards and procedures for dental hygiene programs are preferred Why you should apply: Free use of the Wellness facilities and free admission into all WLU events with your employee Topper Card.
