Job Description The Center for Emergency Medicine - Ambulance and Chair is looking to hire Casual Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B). Schedule & Work Environment - 12 hours per month required. - All shift modalities: 24-hour, 16-hour, 12-hour, and 8-hour shifts available - Schedule posted 30 days in advance - Call Volume split between primarily 911 emergency response dominant and non-emergency transports - Coverage area ranges from urban to rural environments Why Work with Us? Ambulance and Chair is a long-standing EMS provider with deep roots in the communities that we serve. Covering a diverse urban-to-rural response area, our team answers an average of 40,000 calls annually across 45 communities in Washington and Greene Counties, providing both 911 emergency response and non-emergency medical transport. Position Summary The EMT -Basic provides high quality prehospital emergency medical care and non-emergency medical transportation in accordance with Pennsylvania Department of Health regulations, regional protocols, and Ambulance and Chair policies. EMTs function as a part of a multidisciplinary team focused on patient-centered care, safety, and professionalism. Compensation & Benefits - New uniforms provided (coat, shirts, pants) - Annual fleet upgrades with new ambulances every year - Power stretchers and power load systems - Service resources and protocols including: - Blood Protocol participation - Zoll Z Vent ® portable ventilators - Sapphire IV pumps - LUCAS devices - iPads for on-the-go charting Key Responsibilities - Respond to 911 and non-emergency calls in a safe, timely, and professional manner - Perform patient assessments and provide Basic Life Support care within PA scope of practice - Safely operate ambulances and related equipment in emergency and non-emergency conditions - Assist with patient movement, lifting, and transport using powered stretchers and loading systems - Accurately complete electronic patient care reports - Communicate effectively with patients, families, dispatch, hospitals, and partner agencies - Maintain readiness of vehicles, equipment, and supplies - Participate in continuing education, training, quality improvement, and research initiatives - Uphold company values, patient confidentiality, and a culture of trust and teamwork Qualifications - High School Diploma or equivalent required - Current Pennsylvania EMT-Basic certification - Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with acceptable driving record - Current BLS card - Emergency Vehicle Operator (EMSVO) certificate - Ability to meet physical demands of the position, including lifting and moving patients - Strong communication, teamwork, and customer service skills - Ability to work independently and remain calm in high-stress situations Clearances must be dated within 90 days: - Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal - Act 33 with renewal - Act 34 - Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal Preferred Qualifications - Prior EMS experience - Familiarity with electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) systems - Interest in mentorship, education, or service development initiatives
