to find a qualified Oncology RN in Bridgeport, West Virginia,
26330! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered
Nurse) Specialty: MedSurg/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift:
12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2
years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC
(Chemotherapy Biotherapy) certification preferred Must-Have:
Experience with general MedSurg patients, post-ops, and oncology
patients with complications. Experience with chest tubes and PleurX
drains is a significant advantage. Description: The nursing unit
consists of 36 beds. Typical nurse-patient ratios are 1:5-6. The
unit cares for general MedSurg patients and some post-operative
cases such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy.
Patients may include oncology patients with complications such as
neutropenic precautions, pneumonia, and infections. Permanent staff
administer chemotherapy, while travelers are expected to assist as
needed. Experience with chest tubes and managing malignant patients
is critical, as these patients may go home with PleurX chest tubes.
Occasional psychiatric patients may require one-on-one monitoring.
Nurses are required to titrate Heparin drips. Telemetry is
available on the unit, and nurses must be capable of reading and
interpreting telemetry strips. A charge nurse is present 24/7, with
the day shift not taking a patient assignment, while the night
shift does. Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) are present, with
three on days and three on nights. Respiratory therapy manages CPAP
and BiPAP equipment. Shifts are scheduled for 12 hours, from 7 PM
to 7 AM, with weekend requirements of every other weekend for both
shifts. Holidays are included in the rotation schedule. Traveling
nurses may float to other units as necessary. The dress code
includes royal blue scrubs for registered nurses. 5 Benefits of
