JOB CODE: (R861022) Tech/Ultrasound Sonographer LOCATION: Muskingum County (OH) Available opportunities for experienced Ultrasound Sonographer in the following specialties: Cardiac/Vascular (days shift) General Diagnostic (varied shifts) Cardiac/Vascular performs diagnostic cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound exams on assigned patients in an efficient and caring manner in order to provide data for the diagnosis of a wide variety of medical problems. Evaluates exams for diagnostic quality while using professional judgment in the performance of services. General Diagnostic delivers patient care and diagnostic testing according to professional practice standards, while providing support for the Health Care System divisions. Reviews existing clinical data, collects or recommends obtaining additional pertinent clinical data. Evaluates all data to determine the appropriateness of the prescribed respiratory care plan, and participates in the development of the respiratory care plan. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Cardiac/Vascular: Effectively uses functions of the hospital information system (HIS), cardiovascular information system, and other information systems to process and review appropriate patient information and studies (Order entry, registration, etc.). Operates medical diagnostic ultrasound equipment to complete a variety of procedures including cardiac and vascular as appropriate; effectively and safely operates related medical / patient monitoring & support equipment; assures satisfactory working order of equipment and makes appropriate contacts for trouble-shooting. Consistently produces quality diagnostic exams, individualizing technical factors, scanning parameters and patient positioning as required by each procedure. Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide basic care for the patient population of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Assumes call status as necessary during off hours for emergency procedures. Assists in establishing, assessing and maintaining PAR levels. Maintains knowledge of criteria and demonstrates appropriate intervention for urgent abnormal echos or vascular studies that would change the patient care plan (i.e. documents appropriately, informs appropriate staff, informs cardiologist or vascular surgeon) Applies appropriate criteria for the use of image enhancing agents as well as the ability to complete the following specialty studies, acquiring appropriate images in a timely manner: Stress Echocardiography, TEE, TCI and pacemaker studies. Demonstrates the ability to perform Pediatric studies, obtaining appropriate images and following appropriate procedures for transmission of select studies to other facilities as needed. Participates in clinical training of ultrasound students and new employees by providing instruction, supervision and evaluation. General Diagnostic: Operates medical diagnostic ultrasound equipment to complete a variety of procedures including obstetrical, abdominal, and vascular exams as applicable. Assists physicians in fine needle biopsy and localization procedures. Consistently produces diagnostic quality exams, individualizing technical factors, scanning parameters and patient positioning as required by each procedure. Effectively uses computer systems (such as HIS, RIS, PACS) to process, access and distribute appropriate department and patient procedure information. Assists in transportation of patients to and from the department. Participates in providing education and information to patients and their families. Participates in clinical training of ultrasound and/or radiology students by providing instruction, supervision and evaluation as required. Participates in quality assurance/quality control activities as required. Assumes call status as necessary during off hours for emergency procedures. Performs other functions as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (or equivalent) in the appropriate specialty (OB/Gyn, Abdominal). Demonstrated competence in all diagnostic ultrasound procedures including invasive exams such as ultrasound-guided biopsies. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, facilitation, conflict resolution skills. Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment. Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of computer software related to electronic image and clinical information management.
