Primary Purpose:The Road Manager manages all rail operations in a territory and ensures that a high quality of safe, on-time service is mirrored throughout the staff. A successful candidate needs excellent customer service skills, leadership skills, communication skills, problem solving skills, and a proven ability to motivate his/her teams to high performance and a self-starter. We are looking for a dedicated team member who leads by example and brings an innovative mindset to enhance our operation. A road manager is also responsible for training and leading the people who report to them, this inlcudes train and engine employees as well as less-senior management. -Manage the day-to-day railroad operation while supervising agreement (union) employees. Provides support in investigating accidents and injuries to determine the cause and minimize future occurrences. -Local customer visits -Responsible for the on time inbound and departure of freight trains -Plans the operation of local trains to provide required service to customers and fulfill service requirements. -Requires a good working knowledge of safety and operating rules, train operations, FRA regulations, hazardous materials, labor agreements, crew call, and other applications. -Develops, motivates, and trains employees who work in the assigned territory. -Advanced knowledge of the territory as well as customers and train duties. -Ability to understand and accurately interpret work orders. Makes decisions that directly impact overtime and crew productivity. Responsible for developing and training any Road Supervisor that may work under them.
