Job Summary: Consider joining the Metal Exchange family as the EHS Director. In this role, you will have the opportunity to oversee and ensure organizational compliance with local, state and federal environment, health and safety regulations as well as keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. The EHS Director is responsible for ensuring the environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times. While managing a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function, the EHS Director creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. This role requires the EHS director to develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Ultimately, the EHS Director ensures projects are completed on time and within budget.Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Meeting with the management team to define EHS goals and objectives.
  • Conducting inspections and identifying hazards and EHS violations.
  • Providing solutions and intervention strategies for hygiene, health, and safety hazards.
  • Implementing new health and safety protocols and measures to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Monitoring operational processes and employee activities.
  • Generating assessment documentation, incident and accident reports, and health and Illness, Injury Prevention Plans (safety manuals).
  • Reporting to management, OSHA, other regulatory agencies and customer 3rd party on-line safety sites.
  • Preparing and submitting health and safety compliance documents to the relevant organizations.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest EHS trends, policies, regulations, and best practices.Environmental Health and Safety Director Requirements:
    • OSHA or similar EHS certification.
    • A minimum of five years' experience as an EHS Manager or Director.
    • Experience writing policies and procedures with the confidence of fulfilling Federal, State, and Local mandates.
    • Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, and ANSI.
    • The ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
    • The ability to read blueprints and interpret them from a safety standpoint and OSHA qualifications.
    • Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Microsoft Outlook.
    • Strong leadership and training abilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Acute attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.Ideal Candidate Will Have:
      • Education
        • Required: Bachelor's degree in a related field from a four-year college or university
        • Experience
          • 5+ years Leadership experience
          • Proficiency in understanding Federal, State and Local mandates and procedures
          • Other required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
            • Strong written and verbal communication skills
            • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
            • Strong organizational skills, and ability to effectively disseminate information clearly and concisely
            • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees and the general public
            • Flexible and driven to meet tight deadlines, handle multiple projects and prioritize them appropriately
            • Attentive to details and follows through on assigned tasks and commitments
            • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
            • Possess the highest level of integrity; serving as a trusted advisor to customers and colleagues
            • Proficient in Microsoft Office - includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams
            • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
