The Opportunity
We are searching for a strategic, high energy, innovative Product Manager who can deliver on bottom line results and profitability. -This is an outstanding opportunity for a boundary-spanning leader who knows how to "do it all" and can collaborate to facilitate strategy, execution and user understanding in the development of the next generation product portfolio. -The successful candidate is experienced in durable goods, B to B business, stage-gate, and product life cycle management, and also has experience in the direct management of professional product management staff. -The initial focus of the Product Manager will be on US domestic product consumption with an expectation within 18 months to turn attention to optimizing products for targeted international markets.

The Position
As Product Manager, your product line responsibility includes both Industrial Products and Power Tool Accessories. -The products in your portfolio are targeted for both commercial and industrial markets, and are sold through independent distributors, some focusing on specific customer segments including wood cutting, construction, fabrication, etc. -The Product Manager will report to the Director of Marketing and will be responsible for product planning and execution throughout the product life cycle. -The PM will be responsible for creating competitive advantage by optimizing the portfolio based on a thorough understanding of end user and channel partner needs, competition, market and technology trends, and the regulatory environment. -The PM will work with a Project Manager and/or R&D Engineer to define a vision, strategy, prioritized roadmap, and specific requirements for next generation products across the portfolio. -The PM will lead the development of product management staff and organization for the company.

This role will drive the introduction of new products, product improvements and marketing programs from ideation and definition to commercialization and metrics. -This includes managing all areas of the marketing mix, building brand equity, being the expert for the portfolio, and communicating effectively to end users, customers, and company associates.

Essential Responsibilities and Functions:
Represent the M. K. Morse Company in a professional manner.
Capture and leverage customer insights to identify, evaluate and prioritize new product, service, and program opportunities in line with the strategic goals, technical and financial resources of the business.
Define and manage the new offering pipeline, optimize the existing portfolio, and create buy-in for the product vision from internal associates and external partners.
Partner with the project manager, R&D engineer, and other functional owners to develop and commercialize products using the stage gate process. -Drive product launches.
Develop positioning and messaging that differentiates products in the market including launch materials, brochures, web site, merchandising, technical bulletins, sales training, and end user support.
Work together with the Communications Manager to plan and execute a full range of marketing activities including demand generation, public relations, social media, events, advertising, and white papers.
Develop marketing programs and evaluate effectiveness in coordination with other product managers.
Establish and optimize product pricing strategies and promotion activities.
Define product testing and certification requirements together with the R&D engineer.
Define requirements for marketing campaigns including copy, video, graphic design, and website with the graphic design department.
Develop and manage product and program budget.
Support brand development and management.
Foster communication and collaboration across departments.
Present progress reports to leadership.
Expand and enhance functional and business skills through professional development.
Manage professional staff, including hiring and termination, training, and evaluation of performance.
Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
7+ years of product development experience, exposure to durable goods preferred.
4+ years of successfully managing all aspects of a product portfolio and the product lifecycle.
4+ years of direct management of professional staff.
Proven ability to develop and execute effective product and marketing strategies and tactics.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of marketing principles, an understanding of sales processes, and experience in customer insights.
Solid technical knowledge of cutting tools preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
