Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY The New Product Development Engineer – Digital
Services SME will lead the integration of digital diagnostics and
predictive analytics into new Power and Thermal products. This role
combines deep technical expertise in digital services with a focus
on serviceability, safety, and business goals. The candidate will
collaborate with R&D, product management, and global technical
leads to ensure new products are digitally enabled, service-ready,
and aligned with strategic initiatives. This position is remote,
with occasional on-site travel and global team collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the subject matter expert for digital
diagnostics and predictive analytics in Power and Thermal products.
Interface with engineering, technical support, and field service
teams to validate digital event data and ensure product accuracy.
Lead the integration and refinement of Power and Thermal data
models within Digital Services systems. Develop and refine
technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and training
materials focused on digital serviceability and new product
launches. Represent Vertiv Services at design reviews, product
reviews, and phase gate reviews, providing updates to management.
Develop maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for new
products, leveraging digital insights. Act as the Vertiv Services
representative on the engineering change control board. Provide
technical expertise in development of service plans for new
products, including digital platforms. Lead development of
service-related documentation and knowledge articles for Digital
Services in relation to Power and Thermal products. Monitor
industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending process and
platform enhancements. Participate in customer engagements, on-site
escalations, special projects, and strategic initiatives as
assigned. Support logistics for parts research, spare kits, and
parts sourcing for new products. Attend Beta startups and first
article startups, providing feedback to engineering and product
management. Train PTS and first classes of CEs on new products,
including digital service features. Lead documentation and service
platform development for new products. Develop startup and
preventative maintenance forms for new products. Provide technical
guidance to Marketing in development of Scope of Work documents and
new services. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in
computer or electrical engineering preferred, or equivalent
training and experience Interacting with customers in a technical
role Working directly with hardware and/or software systems in data
center or other high-availability environments Minimum six years
military experience in automation, controls, networking, or
electronic fields desired Minimum four years equivalent industry
experience in one or more of the following: BAS (Building
Automation System)/BMS (Building Management Systems) systems
Electronic Monitoring, Automation and Controls systems Protocols
and integration Computer-based networks Basic database knowledge
Technical support Minimum three years’ experience interacting with
customers in a support role required, technical support experience
preferred Experience working directly with sales teams to resolve
customer problems Minimum three years’ experience in Monitoring or
BMS/BAS systems required Excellent technical knowledge of Vertiv
Monitoring products and services or similar monitoring systems is
required Effective troubleshooting skills and resolution
documentation Strong knowledge of PCs and Current Windows Operating
Systems Proficient in all Microsoft Office products, especially MS
Outlook, Excel and SharePoint Firm understanding of Data
Communications Processes, including: Network devices LANs, WANS
VPNs, RDP, WebEx and other remote access tools Basic understanding
of key protocols: Modbus, RS232, RS422, RS485, ARCnet, and BACnet,
SNMP and other network protocols. Experience with transducers and
sensors Experience with schematics and wiring diagrams Excellent
writing and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational
and time management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving
abilities Possess a positive attitude and flexibility in a rapidly
changing environment Ability to manage multiple projects/issues
simultaneously Properly interact with all levels in the
organization, and with the customer Conscientious, accurate, detail
oriented, and self-motivated Ability to work without direct
supervision PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS Occasionally lift
objects up to 50 lbs. Reactive, fast-paced, and high-profile
environment. Minimum 25% domestic and international travel
required. Work flexible schedules and maintain valid driver’s
license. TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED 20% travel will be required, work
